Albany, NY, April 27, 2007 -- The Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society (MHRHS) and New York State Police are seeking information about the identity of the individual or individuals who abandoned a young adult cat in the Town of Brunswick on Tuesday, April 23, 2007. The orange and white medium-haired cat was left abandoned on Town Office Road in a carrier with no food or water. She was rescued by New York State Police and rushed to the Humane Society where she is currently being cared for. "We are relieved she was not seriously injured. The perpetrators put not only the animal in danger but also the motorists traveling on the road," said Brad Shear, Executive Director of MHRHS. "Unfortunately, these incidents are all too common in our area and across the country." "It's sad that someone could do this to such a sweet-natured cat. The Humane Society and the State Police are relying on the community's help to bring this case to closure," stated Jim Bedford, Animal Cruelty Investigator for MHRHS. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact New York State Police at (518) 279-4426.
