Be Kind to Animals Week Poster and Essay Contest
The Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society and the Animal Protective Foundation are partnering to present the 6th Annual Be Kind to Animals Week Poster and Essay Contest for kids in grades 1-5.
Kids love animals and this activity provides them with an opportunity to express their feelings about them through writing or drawing. By encouraging kids to participate, teachers and parents also help us in our ongoing mission to end animal cruelty and pet overpopulation.
National Be Kind to Animals Week (May 4-10, 2008) is dedicated to raising awareness about treating animals with kindness and respect. The only way progress will ever be made is through an entire community (including children!) cooperating together and showing compassion and support for the many unwanted animals in our country.
Entries are due by Friday, April 11, 2008. Children may choose to either enter an essay, a poster or both. For an entry form and entry guidelines, please click here.
The winners and their families and teachers will be invited to an awards reception on May 5, where posters and essays will be displayed and shared.
Humane education is not just about animals; it's about teaching children to become caring, responsible adults with respect for all species and our world. Please share this program with anyone you know who touches the lives of children!
