The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been providing shelter for lost, abused and unwanted animals since 1887. Our animal care facility is the largest in the Capital Region, receiving an average of over 6,000 animals per year. We receive not just common household pets like cats, dogs, rabbits and hamsters, but also snakes, birds, iguanas, fish, horses, livestock and even llamas.
To carry out our work for the animals, MHHS receives no ongoing funding from federal, state or local governments or any other animal welfare organization. We rely on your generous donations to support our vital services for the animals.
The Society was awarded the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council's 2012 Nonprofit Organization ward (1-74 employees) in large part because of the Safe Haven Program. Here is the video about the award:
"We give our pets the time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, pets give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made."
